Minor in Rhetoric
Checklist
In March 2004, the H-SC faculty approved a new concentration in Rhetoric
which became a minor in 2006-07. The brainchild of Dr. Elizabeth Deis, who has several times directed the Rhetoric Program, the new concentration
was in place for the 2004-2005 academic year. Students who wish to complete this
minor of the Rhetoric Program need to fulfill the following requirements, totaling 18 credit hours:
- Rhetoric 102 (Principles and Practice of Good Writing)
- Rhetoric 210 and 310 (Public speaking and Advanced Public Speaking)
- Rhetoric 301 (Creative Nonfiction)
- One course from among the following: Rhetoric 401 (Topics in Rhetorical Theory and Practice); Fine Arts 220, English 401, English 405, or Classical Studies 201.
- The final three hours are satisfied by one of the following courses: English 236, English 238, Fine Arts 208, Fine Arts 308, Philosophy 102, Latin 411, French 305, German 402, Spanish 305, Spanish 306 or other courses as approved by the Director of the Rhetoric Program.
