Gentlemen:

            This is the announcement and invitation for our 45th reunion of the illustrious Hampden-Sydney Class of 1963 at the campus on Friday, October 10 and Saturday October 11, 2008. Make your plans now to attend and stir up enthusiasm among our classmates so that we will enjoy a rousing good time together for this dress rehearsal for the big one in five years. Time flies!

            On Friday evening October 10, Dinner in the Chairman’s Room in Settle Hall will follow a reception and prodigious camaraderie at The Tiger Inn beginning at 5:30 p.m. Settle Hall is located behind Morton Hall (the “Commons” to us). Valet parking will be provided.
           
            On Saturday October 11, our class will join the 40th Reunion Class of ’68 as guests of President and Mrs. Bortz in (‘63’s own) Lewis C. Everett Stadium Lounge for lunch before the game against the Wasps of Emory & Henry. We will have Special parking at the Crawley Forum parking lot for Saturday’s game. More information about these arrangements will be provided on Friday evening.

            The Southside Club of the Alumni Association will host the annual team golf competition on Friday at The Manor Golf Course in Farmville for the benefit of the Annual Fund. All Alumni and friends of the College are urged to participate. Brunch will be served at 9:30 am and the shotgun start will be at 11:00 o’clock a.m.

            The Thirtieth Annual “Pinky” Thompson Tennis Challenge will also be held on Friday, beginning at 1:00 pm at the Varsity Tennis Courts.

           Sign up for the team golf competition and the Tennis Challenge by calling the Alumni Office at 434 223-6776. The Alumni Office will also provide contact information for classmates including those who did not graduate.
                       
            The cost per person is $75 and includes the Friday dinner and Saturday lunch as well as favors and the post game party. Otis Day and the Knights of Animal House “fame” will provide post-game entertainment.

            Please respond quickly by fax or mail to the Alumni Office using the Reunion Registration Form. Include your credit card information or check. We will not turn you away if you are a bit tardy but do your best to meet the registration deadline of Friday, October 3, 2008.

            Lodging reservations must be made directly with the hotels listed on the H-SC website at www.hsc.edu/visitors/, not with the Alumni Office. Let’s congregate at particular motels in the vicinity of the campus, starting with The Comfort Inn (434 392 8163), then The Days Inn (434 392 6611), and finally the Hampton Inn (434 392 8826), in that sequence as each fills. This is a busy weekend on campus so make reservations now.
           
            This reunion is a great opportunity to renew old friendships, get reacquainted with the campus and support a very solid football program. So, sign up now and encourage our classmates to join together on the campus for Friday and Saturday October 10 and 11, 2008 October.  See you in October!

P.S. Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Lucas ’59 have graciously donated a 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible that will be raffled at half-time.  The car is older than our ‘63 class. At 61,000 actual miles, it is lower mileage than many of us. Its all original equipment is more than some of us can claim. So, buy a chance or two.
