NEWS FROM CALEB IN SOUTH AMERICA
|
| |
Hello All:
I wanted to touch base with all of my friends and family for the first
time since I have been in Ecuador. This has been an amazing and
eye-opening experience. To see such poor people live as happy as they
do, it is very refreshing.
For the last 6 weeks, I have been in traning about 3 hours west of the
capitol city of Quito. Most of my traning has been in organic
agriculture and language/culture. In six more weeks I will be placed in
my site for 2 years of service. This site is called Luz de America. The
population is about 5000 with major agriculture production. My role
will be to utilize my economics degree and farming background to help
modernize the business operation.
My new contact information will be the following:
Caleb Varner
Casilla 17-24-146
Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador
South America
As far as my living arangements go, I will have running water every
other day, electricity, and a clean bathroom in my house at my site.
This is more than comfortable by the standards here.
I will have e-mail access about 30 minutes away by bus and will be able to
keep in touch with people in the states frequently. Additionaly, I have
signed up to be in a worldwide school program. In this program I will
be paired with an Aericam school and relay information about life in the
Peace Corps in Ecuador.
I am excited about what the next two years will have in store. If they
are going to be anything like the last 6 weeeks, I will be touched every
day.
You are in my thoughts and prayers daily!
All the best,
Caleb
