The Waters Cup, established by the Peninsula Club in 1998, is presented annually to the outstanding Hampden-Sydney College alumni club in the United States. The award is named in honor of John H. Waters, III ’58, and his wife, Sally C. Waters, in grateful recognition of their love for and distinguished service to the College.
The purpose of the Waters Cup is to inspire club creativity and promote friendly competition among various alumni groups across America. Selection of the recipient(s) is based on evaluations of alumni attendance, admission yields, career development objectives, and club initiatives. The award serves “to promote the general welfare of the College and to this end maintain the good will of alumni groups towards the College and their comradeship towards each other.”
The Alumni Office is pleased to announce that the 2007-2008 Waters Cup recipients are South Hampton Roads and Danville-Martinsville.
The Alumni Office of Hampden-Sydney College cordially invites you to attend the awarding of the 2007-2008 Waters Cup at Homecoming on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. on the lawn of Cushing Hall.
