LYNCHBURG, VA (April 14, 2005)—Lynchburg College scored a 6-2 victory over Hampden-Sydney College Thursday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball contest.  With the win, the Hornets take the season series from the Tigers, two games to none, and improve their record to 19-13 overall and 11-5 in the ODAC while Hampden-Sydney falls to 18-13 overall and 8-8 in conference play.

Lynchburg got on the scoreboard in the first inning as Joey Arthur led off the game with a triple and scored on Josh Walker’s single, while Walker later scored on a ground ball by Lucas Jones.  The Tigers tied the game in their half of the second as Joe Knowles (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) and Todd Harrell (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk) each drove in runs.

Justin Kelly put the Hornets back on top in the bottom of the second with a solo homer.  Lynchburg then tacked on two more runs in the third on a sacrifice fly by Lucas Jones and an RBI single by Adam Santee.  The Hornets’ final run was scored in the fifth when Kelley hit a deep fly ball that scored Steven Scott from third base.
