SALEM, VA (May 9, 2007)—Four
members of the Hampden-Sydney baseball team earned all-conference
accolades this week as voted on by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
baseball coaches. The honors follow another successful Tiger
baseball season in which Hampden-Sydney posted a 25-18 overall record
and appeared in the ODAC Championship contest for the second time in
three years. Head Coach Jeff Kinne was named the ODAC Coach of the
Year , the second time that the Tiger has received the honor. The
Tigers were picked to finish sixth in the preseason, but earned a share
of the conference top spot during the regular-season.
Junior Josh Michael
(Front Royal, VA/Warren County) earned first team All-ODAC honors as
he was batting .387 in 150 at-bats with 33 runs scored and 31 RBI.
Michael hit ten doubles, one triple, and four home runs as well.
Against ODAC opponents, Michael was batting .439 with a .652 slugging
percentage.
Senior Larry Greene
(Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) and freshmen Ben Brawley (Leesburg,
VA/Loudon County) earned second team accolades. On the season,
Greene posted a 4-1 mark against ODAC opponents with a .286 ERA in 44.0
innings pitched. During the ODAC Tournament, Greene went 2-0 and
earned all-tournament team honors. As the Tigers designated
hitter, Brawley batted .316 with 37 hits, five doubles, two triples, and
one home run.
Junior Daniel Hadra
(Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) earned honorable mention All-ODAC honors
after posting a 4-1 mark against Old Dominion Athletic Conference
opponents. On the season, Hadra posted a 3.92 ERA in 82 and
two-thirds innings of work, striking out 63 and walking only 17.
Virginia Wesleyan's
Matt Hudgins earned Player of the Year honors, while the Marlins' Chris
Rivera was named Pitcher of the Year. Bridgewater's Andrew Chrismer
earned Rookie of the Year honors, and Washington and Lee's David Miller
was Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The All-Conference honors are as
