XC Tigers Finish Sixth at ODAC Championships
(November 4, 2008) VIRGINIA BEACH, VA--Hampden-Sydney's cross country team brought their regular season to a close with a solid sixth place finish at the 2008 ODAC Men's Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Virginia Beach. The Tigers ended on a strong note and continued to improve as six Tigers' recorded their best times of the season. The Tigers were led by junior Robert Melvin (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) with a personal best time of 27:35 and a 34th place overall finish. Coming in just 20 seconds after Melvin was senior captain George Heeschen (Earlysville, VA/Ablemarle), who ran 27:55 and scored 40th. more...

XC Tigers Boast Several Personal Bests at Tribe Open
(October 23, 2008) WILLIAMSBURG, VA--Hampden-Sydney cross country captain George Heeschen (Earlysville, VA/Albemarle) again led the Tigers and placed 22nd overall at the Tribe Open this past Saturday. Heeschen recorded a time of 28:30, and was followed by teammate Robert Melvin (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon), who came in 2nd for the Tigers with a time of 29:13. more...

XC Tigers Runners Up at VA State Meet
(October 9, 2008) PENN LAIRD, VA--Hampden-Sydney cross country captain George Heeschen (Earlysville, VA/Albemarle) continues to lead the Tigers as he had an outstanding day at the VA State Meet. Heeschen ran an impressive 29:08 to lead Hampden-Sydney and place him third overall. Sophomore Arne Ulbrich (Grove City, PA) also had a strong showing with a time of 30:41. With his time, Ulbrich was the second Tiger to place in the top ten as he finished eighth. With the help of Heeschen and Ulbrich, Hampden-Sydney was able to place second overall. more...

XC Tigers Place Fifth at Maroon Invitational
(September 24, 2008) SALEM, VA--Hampden-Sydney cross country captain George Heeschen (Earlysville, VA/Albemarle) ran a personal best 27:47 to lead the Tigers to a fifth place finish at the Roanoke Maroon Invitational this past Saturday. Heeschen's time earned him eighth overall, and he was followed closely by teammate Robert Melvin (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon), who came in 2nd for the Tigers with a personal best time of 28:10, giving him a 12th place finish. more...

XC Tigers Place Tenth at Marlin Invitational
(September 1, 2008) VIRGINIA BEACH, VA--Hampden-Sydney cross country captain George Heeschen (Earlysville, VA/Albemarle) placed 24th overall to lead the Tigers to a tenth place finish at the Virginia Wesleyan Marlin Invitational this past Saturday. Heeschen recorded a time of 29:25.1, and was followed by teammate Daniel Isaacs (Troutville, VA/Lord Botetourt), who came in 2nd for the Tigers with a time of 32:28.2.
