TIGER CROSS COUNTRY KICKS OFF SEASON WITH FOURTH-PLACE FINISH

NORFOLK, VA – Hampden-Sydney’s cross country team kicked off the 2004 season with a fourth-place finish at the Marlin Invitational.  In his first collegiate race, Freshman Matt Moore (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) ran an impressive 30:15 earning a respectable eighth place finish overall. 

Moore led the way for the Tigers followed by fellow freshman Nick Davis (also from Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) who finished with a time of 31:58.  Senior Ken Bradley (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) helped push the Tigers into fourth place with a time of 32:25 while Pete Crow (Boalsburg, PA/State College Area HS) finished strong at 33:20. 

Lynchburg claimed first place with 20 total team points followed closely by Bridgewater with 67.  Eastern Mennonite slid in front of H-SC with 123 points for third place and the Tigers finished a strong fourth with 134 team points.   

H-SC heads to Danville, VA on September 11 for the Danville Collegiate Challenge starting at 12:45 pm.  The following weekend, September 25th, is family weekend at Hampden-Sydney where the Tigers will host the Family Weekend Fun Run.
