TIGER CROSS COUNTRY TAKES THIRD PLACE IN DANVILLE COLLEGIATE CHALLENGE DANVILLE, VA – Hampden-Sydney’s cross country team had five runners finish in the top 25 as they took third place this weekend in the Danville Collegiate Challenge. The Tigers finished with a total of 81 team points behind Barton (37 points) and North Carolina Central (26 points); both are top-notch Division II teams. Freshman Matt Moore (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) paced the way for the Tigers with another impressive race, finishing in ninth place with a time of 31:11. Moore has finished every race this season in the top 10. Hampden-Sydney's second top scorer was also a freshmen, Pete Crowe (Boalsburg, PA/State College Area HS), finishing in 15th place with a time of 32:20. Following close behind was Nick Davis (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) in 17th place at 32:37. Senior Ken Bradley (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) helped seal the third place finish with a time of 32:58 coming in 20th while Philip Tobleman (Wytheville, VA/George Wythe) added a 22nd place finish at 34:31. North Carolina Central grabbed first place with 26 total team points followed by Barton with 37 points. Hampden-Sydney took 3rd place with 81 points while Greensboro trailed them at 100. Ferrum ended in fifth place with 144 points as Averett finished sixth. The Tigers have next weekend off before they return to action on September 25 at Hampden-Sydney for the Family Weekend Fun Run. -www.hsc.edu/athletics- |
