H-SC CROSS COUNTRY EARNS THIRD PLACE IN GENERAL'S XC INVITATIONAL LEXINGTON, VA – Hampden-Sydney’s cross country team had another top three finish this weekend at Washington & Lee in the General's Cross Country Invitational. The Tigers finished with a total of 72 team points behind Westminster College (47 points) and Washington & Lee (19 points). Freshman standout Matt Moore (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) placed seventh overall; the highest finishing spot of his rookie season. Moore finished the 8k race in 30:53 with an average mile time of 6:12.8 and continues to be Hampden-Sydney's top scorer. After Moore, the Tigers had a consistent wave of runners coming in 17th, 18th, 19th, and 21st place. Hampden-Sydney's second top scorer was freshmen, Pete Crowe (Boalsburg, PA/State College Area HS), finishing in 17th place with a time of 33:00. Senior Ken Bradley (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) followed close behind at 33:14 along with Phil Tobelman (Wytheville, VA/George Wythe) at 33:35. Nick Davis (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) finished out the pack of Tigers to help push Hampden-Sydney into third place with a time of 33:58. All together, the Tigers finished with a combined time of 2:44:40 balancing out to an average of 32:56. Washington & Lee finished in first place on their home course with 19 total team points followed by Westminster with 47 points. Hampden-Sydney took 3rd place with 72 points while W&L Alumni trailed them at 103.
