SIXTH-PLACE
FINISH FOR TIGERS AT ODAC CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
GREENSBORO,
NC (October 29, 2005)—Hampden-Sydney’s cross country team recorded its fifth
top-six finish of the season Saturday as the harriers finished sixth at the
ODAC Cross-Country Championships at Hagen Stone Park. Sophomore Matt
Moore (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) led the way for the
Tigers with a 19th-place individual finish with a personal season
best time of 28:19.
Moore was followed by Tiger freshmen Drew Tatom (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) who finished 34th at
29:40, while sophomore Pete Crowe (Boalsburg,
PA/State College
Area) finished 37th with a time of 30:10. Junior Phil
Tobleman (Wytheville,
VA/George Wythe) finished the race right on the heels of
Crowe with a time of 30:11.
Also
making good time was freshman George Heeschen (Charlottesville,
VA/Albemarle)
at 30:35 in 43rd place, senior John Warren at 32:52 in 53rd
and junior Mike Rutkowski at 32:53 in 54th
place.
Washington and Lee University
clinched the ODAC title with a score of 26 as seven of the Generals finished
in the top 22 runners, including three of the top five finishers. Washington & Lee was led by meet-winner
Nathan Johnson who finished with a time of 26:05. It was his second straight
ODAC Championship individual title.
