HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (July 29, 2008)—Hampden-Sydney Athletics Director Joe Bush announced this afternoon the decision to name Ricky Talman as Tigers' head cross country coach. Talman, who currently serves as the Assistant Fitness Director for Tiger Recreation, assumes head coaching responsibilities left vacant by the departure of former head man Skip Stiles, who departed in the spring for a position at Temple University. "We are very fortunate to have someone as versatile and hard working as Ricky on our staff," Bush said. "I have full confidence that Ricky will be able to continue the steady improvement that our cross country team enjoyed under Skip Stiles." Talman graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Sport Management and a minor in Communications. During his academic career at West Virginia, Talman was an active member of the Sport Management Club while also participating in several intramural sports, including flag football, basketball and soccer. Prior to joining the TigerRec staff, Talman worked as the game day operations intern for the Richmond Kickers Soccer Club, helping with game promotions, ticket sales and the overall production of the live sporting events. Talman continues to stay active athletically and currently plays in the premier division of the Central Virginia Soccer Association adult soccer league in Richmond. -www.hsc.edu/athletics-
