Head Cross Country Coach
Skip Stiles
Robert “Skip” Stiles is in his first season as head
Tiger cross country coach. A native of Southbury, Connecticut, Stiles brings a
wealth of knowledge and an impressive running career of his own to a team that
will look to improve immediately
Stiles graduated from the
University of New Hampshire in May of 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. He is currently working towards
his master’s degree in education from New Hampshire as well. Stiles ran for UNH
under scholarship for four years and also ran year-round through one year of
graduate school.
He was a part of the 4x800m
indoor relay team that currently holds the UNH school record with a time of
7:39.81, and also was a member of the 2002, 2003, and 2006 America East
Conference champion cross country teams. In 2004, Stiles placed third in the
1500m at the America East Outdoor Championships with a time of 3:57.4.
Stiles
attended Pomperaug High School in Southbury until his junior year, when his
family relocated to Haddonfield, New Jersey. There he would graduate from
Haddonfield Memorial High School where he enjoyed tremendous success on the
track – his team placed second in the distance medley relay (DMR) at the Penn
Relays in 2002; won the 2002 NSIC Indoor National Championship in the DMR; was
the 4x1600m relay national champion at the 2002 Nike Indoor Nationals; and
individually, won the 2002 Group I State Championship in the 800m (2:00.07) and
1600m (4:27.44). |
