Head Cross Country Coach

Skip Stiles

Robert “Skip” Stiles is in his first season as head Tiger cross country coach. A native of Southbury, Connecticut, Stiles brings a wealth of knowledge and an impressive running career of his own to a team that will look to improve immediately

Stiles graduated from the University of New Hampshire in May of 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. He is currently working towards his master’s degree in education from New Hampshire as well. Stiles ran for UNH under scholarship for four years and also ran year-round through one year of graduate school.

He was a part of the 4x800m indoor relay team that currently holds the UNH school record with a time of 7:39.81, and also was a member of the 2002, 2003, and 2006 America East Conference champion cross country teams. In 2004, Stiles placed third in the 1500m at the America East Outdoor Championships with a time of 3:57.4.

Stiles attended Pomperaug High School in Southbury until his junior year, when his family relocated to Haddonfield, New Jersey. There he would graduate from Haddonfield Memorial High School where he enjoyed tremendous success on the track – his team placed second in the distance medley relay (DMR) at the Penn Relays in 2002; won the 2002 NSIC Indoor National Championship in the DMR; was the 4x1600m relay national champion at the 2002 Nike Indoor Nationals; and individually, won the 2002 Group I State Championship in the 800m (2:00.07) and 1600m (4:27.44).
