HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (March 17, 2008)—Hampden-Sydney College head football coach Marty Favret announced today the promotion of Wes Dodson as the new defensive coordinator for the Hampden-Sydney football program. Dodson was promoted to coordinator following the departure of Adam Braithwaite to the University of Michigan. “I’m excited for Adam and wish him all the best in Ann Arbor," stated Coach Favret. "He’s built a solid foundation for us here defensively, and I’m expecting Coach Dodson and the rest of the defensive staff to oversee our continued progress on that side of the ball.” Dodson spent the 2007 football season coaching the Tiger secondary, helping lead the Tigers to their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship since 1987 and first appearance in the NCAA Playoffs since 1977. The Tigers captured the ODAC crown with a 31-13 victory over Randolph-Macon. Braithwaite joins the Michigan staff after one season at Hampden-Sydney. "I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity I had to be the defensive coordinator here at Hampden-Sydney," stated the former West Virginia University assistant coach. "My experiences here were very positive and it was truly a privilege to coach such an outstanding group of young men. I wish for nothing but the best for Hampden-Sydney Football." www.hsc.edu/athletics |
