TRAYLOR AND YOUNG JOIN TIGER FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (June 20, 2008)—Hampden-Sydney head football coach Marty Favret announced today the hiring of two new members to his 2008 coaching staff. Former Hampden-Sydney gridiron standout Zeke Traylor will resume his Tiger coaching career with the offensive line after a one year respite and former Syracuse University star and professional pigskin player Glen Young will tackle linebacker responsibilities.

Zeke Traylor returns to Hampden-Sydney after one year of teaching at Harry F. Byrd Middle School in Richmond and coaching at Mills Godwin High School. In 2006, Traylor served one season as a Hampden-Sydney graduate assistant, working primarily with the offensive line.

Traylor was a three-year letterman (2003-2005) for the Hampden-Sydney football team during his tenure as a student. As a senior in 2005, Traylor earned a multitude of honors, including the J. Stokeley Fulton Award, first team All-ODAC, first team all-state, first team Don Hansen Football Gazette All-South Region, second team D3football.com All-South Region and honorable mention Don Hansen Football Gazette All-American. That season, Traylor helped Hampden-Sydney to an 8-2 overall record.

Traylor graduated from Hampden-Sydney in the spring of 2006 with a B.A. in history.

Glen Young will take on his first season with Hampden-Sydney's football staff. Young comes to Farmville from Michigan State University where he served one year as a graduate assistant, working with the offensive line, linebackers and special teams while helping the Spartans to a Champs Sports Bowl appearance in 2007.

Young played four years of football under scholarship at linebacker for Syracuse University. As a senior in 1992, amidst tallying 102 total tackles, Young earned several honors including the Lambert Trophy, Syracuse Defensive MVP, and the Joe Alexander Award for Excellence in Football. The Orange captured a 26-22 victory over Colorado in that season's Fiesta Bowl en route to concluding the season ranked sixth in the national polls. Young finished his career as the eighth all-time leading tackler in Syracuse history and earned All-Big East and honorable mention All-America honors during his career.

Following college, Young played thirteen years of professional football, both in the NFL and CFL, winning the AFC Championship and participating in Super Bowl XXIX with the San Diego Chargers and winning two Grey Cup titles with the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos. During his time in the NFL, Young played with the Los Angeles Raiders, the Chargers and the Seattle Seahawks as a linebacker.

Following his playing career, Young coached at Hempfield High School in Pennsylvania for one year before enrolling in graduate school at Michigan State, seeking a Master's Degree in Kinesiology and joining the football coaching staff as a graduate assistant.
