MILLER NAMED SECOND TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA

Senior Josh Miller earned ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-America Team honors

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (November 24, 2009)—Senior linebacker Josh Miller (Stephens City, VA/Sherando) has just been named to the ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team for his stellar work this season on the field and in the classroom. This honor follows his Academic All-District accolades earlier this month.

This season, Miller was a vital part to the Tigers' 10-0 regular season, ODAC Championship and NCAA berth. The senior captain ranked third on the team and ninth in the ODAC in tackles with 71, including 36 solo stops while assisting on 35 more. Miller has also recovered a fumble, recorded 3.0 sacks and broken up five passes. He was a leader on a Hampden-Sydney defense that only allowed an ODAC-low 17.5 points-per-game and just 13.8 in conference. Miller and the Tigers also lead the ODAC in total defense, holding teams to 302.8 yards-per-game.

Miller has had a standout career at linebacker for Hampden-Sydney, appearing in every game for four years while being named First Team All-ODAC as a junior.

In the classroom, Miller boasts a 3.85 GPA double majoring in history and religion. The three-time Academic All-ODAC honoree also maintains a 4.0 GPA for his history major while being named to the Dean's List in all six of his academic semesters. Miller is also a member of Omicron Kappa Delta Leadership fraternity.
