FOOTBALL SENIORS CELEBRATE CAREERS AT CHAMPIONS DINNER

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (February 1, 2010)—Twenty three seniors on the Hampden-Sydney College football team celebrated the conclusion of their collegiate football careers as the Gridiron Club sponsored the 2009 Senior Champions Dinner.  Held at the Commonwealth Club in Richmond, the banquet celebrated the seniors four years at Hampden-Sydney and the Tigers' Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship during the 2009 season. Over their four years, these seniors compiled an impressive 30-10 regular season record, two ODAC Championships and two berths in the NCAA Playoffs. This past season, they cemented their legacy by being just the second team in school history to post a perfect 10-0 record.

The only other team to accomplish this feat was the 1971 team, who was also honored at the banquet. The event, which had a record attendance of over 270 former players, family, friends and loyal supporters also featured a live and silent auction and a highlight film of the Tigers march to a conference championship and berth into the 2009 NCAA Playoffs.  Other speakers included College President Christopher B. Howard, Athletic Director Joe Bush, Head Football Coach Marty Favret, Bobby Long '72 from the famed 1971 team, and Gridiron Club President Bill Moore '78.

The twenty three seniors honored at the banquet were Geordie Breidenbach, Alex Kolt, Scott Anderson, Andrew Busan, Taylor Mann, Henry Skiba, T.J. Morgan, E.K. Smock, Craig Warnement, Winston Graves, Thomas Hovis, Joey Omick, Corey Sedlar, Ty Condrey, Adam Gillette, Boaz Young-el, Cody Deckert, Jamar Lovelace, Andrew Sellers and Josh Miller. Not pictured are Brien Bowlin, Phillip Saunders and Penn Stephenson.

The Hampden-Sydney College Athletic Department and football team would like to thank all those who helped to make this event possible.  Thank you for your support!
