 | | Senior Richard Adams fired a second round 76 to help the Tigers finish fourth in the Virginia State Championship. | Strong Round Two Propels Golfers to Fourth Place Finish (October 14, 2008) ASHLAND, VA--The Hampden-Sydney golf team received clutch second round performances from freshman Ronnie Fultz, senior Richard Adams and sophomore Nick Stubbe en route to a fourth-place finish in the Virginia State Golf Championships held at Hanover Country Club in Ashland, Virginia. On the final day of the two-day event, Fultz notched a four-over 75, Adams a five-over 76 and Stubbe a team-low, two-over 73 to help Hampden-Sydney rebound from a tough first round and climb four spots in the team standings. Fultz, who posted the top Hampden-Sydney individual score in last week's Hampden-Sydney Invitational, followed up his 19th-place finish at The Manor Resort with a sixth-place finish in the Championships, firing a 155 for the event. more...
 | | Tiger freshman Ronnie Fultz led the Tigers to a seventh-place finish at the Hampden-Sydney Golf Invitational. | Tiger Golfers Finish Seventh in H-SC Invitational (October 7, 2008) FARMVILLE, VA--Hampden-Sydney freshman Ronnie Fultz compiled a two-day total of 160 (77-83) to lead the Tiger golf team to a seventh-place finish at the First Annual Hampden-Sydney Golf Invitational hosted by The Manor Resort. In a tournament that saw a rash of high scores, Fultz opened strong with a first round 77 on Monday and closed the event with a final round 83 to seal the top score amongst his teammates.  | | Senior Richard Adams finished in a tie for seventh place overall after shooting a two-round total of 150 at the Ted Keller Invitational. | H-SC Golfers Secure Fourth Place Finish at Ted Keller (September 14, 2008) GLEN ALLEN, VA--The Hampden-Sydney golf team placed two players in the top-seven en route to a fourth place finish at the 2008 Ted Keller Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College. Senior Richard Adams and junior Britt Parnell each enjoyed stellar second rounds to shoot 150 over the two day event and secure ties for seventh place overall. Adams notched an even par, 71 on Sunday while Parnell registered a one-over, 72 for his final round at Hunting Hawk Golf Club. Greensboro College's Brock Elder captured medalist honors with a two-over, 144. Bridgewater College took the team title with a two-day total of 596 (+28). more...
Adams, Tiger Golfers Place Sixth at Manor Intercollegiate (September 9, 2008) FARMVILLE, VA--Senior Richard Adams turned in a three round total of 220 (74-72-74) to finish in a tie for seventh place individually and lead Hampden-Sydney's top team to a sixth place finish in the Manor Intercollegiate held at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville. The Tigers were the only non-Division I school in the field and placed two teams in the top-eight out of a total of 11 squads. Adams finished just seven shots back of Longwood University's Michael Young, who earned medalist honors with a three-under, 213 for the tournament. Tigers' freshman Ronnie Fultz was impressive in his first collegiate action, placing 19th while firing a three round total of 227 (75-77-75). Sophomore Nick Stubbe gave Hampden-Sydney three golfers in the top-25 overall, turning in a solid 231 (79-79-73) over the two-day event. more...
Tiger Golfers Rated 27th Best in Division III (June 12, 2008) BLOOMINGTON, IL--After a stellar season on the links, Hampden-Sydney's golf team received a final ranking of No. 27 out of all 346 NCAA Division III golf teams according to GOLFSTAT, the NCAA's official source for college golf scores and statistics. Hampden-Sydney, which featured three standout senior players in Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox), Nick Combs (Newport News, VA/Menchville) and Rob Shrader (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian), also completed the season ranked No. 8 in the South Region according to the GOLFSTAT ranking system. Three young Tigers have also qualified for one or more Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) tournaments: Sam Wallace, Michael Dowd and incoming freshman Ronnie Fultz. more...
