Golf Tigers Place Seventh at ODAC Championships (April 21, 2009) CAPE CHARLES, VA--Freshman Ronnie Fultz shot a three-day total of 244 (81-81-82) and senior Richard Adams bounced back from a round one 88 to notch an 80 on each of the final two days to lead Hampden-Sydney to a seventh-place finish in the 2009 ODAC Championship held at Bay Creek Golf Club in Cape Charles, Virginia. Fultz, the top Tiger finisher at Bay Creek, placed 14th in the 40-man field and was named the 2009 ODAC Freshman of the Year in addition to being named second team All-ODAC. For the season, Fultz led Hampden-Sydney with seven top-20 finishes in nine events and registered a team-low average of 77.3 strokes-per-round. Adams, who tallied a three-day total of 248 to finish alone in 22nd place at the Championships, also garnered second team All-ODAC accolades. more...

Golf Tigers Capture Camp Lejeune Scarlet Intercollegiate Title (April 1, 2009) CAMP LEJEUNE, NC--The stars finally aligned for Hampden-Sydney's golf team. After a somewhat inconsistent start to the spring season, the Tigers pieced together three phenomenal days at the Camp Lejeune Scarlet Intercollegiate in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and captured their first team victory of the season with a 21-over, 869. Hampden-Sydney finished ten strokes ahead of second-place Bridgewater College and headlined a deep, 16-team field which featured four other ODAC representatives. Hampden-Sydney received masterful performances from both its experience and youth over the three-day event. Senior Richard Adams led the charge, firing an even-par 70 in round one and closing out his second place finish with a two-under 68 in Sunday's third and final round. Adams finished the tournament with a one-over par, 213 (70-75-68). Freshman Ronnie Fultz continued his stellar play, posting a fifth-place finish (217) with the help of his two-under, 68 on Sunday. The Tiger freshman standout followed up his opening round performance with a 77 and 78 in the final two days of competition on the par-72 Oleander Course. Fultz was the only Tiger to place in the top-100 of the 27-team, 143-man field, which featured several of the nation's premier teams. Hampden-Sydney, which finished 10th in last year's Jekyll Island Collegiate, finished the three-day event in a tie for 22nd-place and struggled somewhat in the windy conditions. more...
 | | Freshman Ronnie Fultz led the Tigers with a two-day total of 163 at the Tom O'Briant Memorial in Greensboro, NC. | Fultz, Tigers Manage Top-12 Finish at Tom O'Briant (October 29, 2008) GREENSBORO, NC--Hampden-Sydney freshman Ronnie Fultz fired a two-day total of 163 (79-84) to lead the Tiger golfers to a 12th-place finish in the Tom and Bettie O'Briant Memorial Golf Tournament held at the Cardinal Golf and Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. The entire field battled blustery conditions on day two of the event, which featured seven of NCAA Division III's top-25 teams according to the Golf World/NIKE Golf Division III Coaches Poll. Ten of Division III's last 15 national champions were also in the field. Second-ranked Methodist, fourth-ranked Oglethorpe and sixth-ranked Guilford made this one of Division III's top fall tournaments. Rhodes is the nation's 11th-ranked team in the poll. On the final day of the two-day event, Fultz notched a four-over 75, Adams a five-over 76 and Stubbe a team-low, two-over 73 to help Hampden-Sydney rebound from a tough first round and climb four spots in the team standings. Fultz, who posted the top Hampden-Sydney individual score in last week's Hampden-Sydney Invitational, followed up his 19th-place finish at The Manor Resort with a sixth-place finish in the Championships, firing a 155 for the event. more...
