2009 Hall of Fame Inductees
(November 4, 2009) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney College and the Athletics Hall of Fame inducts its 22nd class on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 11 am in the Kirk Athletic Center. Included in the Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2009 are former baseball, football, golf and lacrosse greats. Being inducted this year are standout linebacker Ed Keefer '75, golfer Berk Jolly '96, lacrosse defenseman Dr. Jamie Worthen '98 and special citation Bill Blair '53. The Hampden-Sydney Athletic Hall of Fame was created in 1988 and is designed to honor men who have made outstanding contributions to Hampden-Sydney athletics and have helped bring recognition, honor, excellence and distinction to the College and its intercollegiate athletics program. Members are selected annually by the Hall of Fame Committee from nominations submitted by alumni and friends of the College. more...

Ronnie Fultz finished the VA Intercollegiate with a fourth place finish helping the Tigers to tie for second overall.
Tiger Golfers Tie for Second at VA Intercollegiate
(October 13, 2009) WINTERGREEN, VA--Hampden-Sydney's Ronnie Fultz and Britt Parnell paced the Tigers to a second place finish in the Virginia Intercollegiate this past weekend. Fultz finished the event tied for fourth shooting a 149 (75-74) while Parnell was just three strokes behind finishing ninth with a 152 (73-79). Curtis Tomlin was not far behind shooting a 156 (78-78) in the two-day event. Rounding out the Tigers'  squad were Lorcan Duffy and Chason Trahan who shot 162 (84-78) and 165 (85-80), respectively. Overall, Hampden-Sydney shot a team total of 619, just four strokes behind first place finisher Randolph-Macon en route to their second place finish in the twelve team event. more...

Tiger Golfers Tie for Eighth at Ted Keller Memorial
(October 5, 2009) GLEN ALLEN, VA--Hampden-Sydney's Ronnie Fultz and Lorcan Duffy each shot a two-day total of 151 to led the Tigers to an eighth place finish in Randolph-Macon's Ted Keller Memorial Tournament. Individually, Fultz and Duffy tied for twelfth place. Senior Britt Parnell also had a solid outing shooting a 156 (78-78) for a 32nd place finish. The final score used for the Tigers came from freshman Sean Gatz who shot a personal best 165 (83-82). Rounding out the Tigers five-man squad was Curtis Tomlin who shot a 169 (82-87) en route to a 56th place finish. Overall, Hampden-Sydney, which shot a team total of 622, tied for eighth place with 2009 NCAA tournament participant Franklin and Marshall. more...

ODAC Announces 2008-09 All-Academic Team
(October 1, 2009) SALEM, VA--For the third time in as many years, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Team eclipsed 1,000 student-athletes.  With representatives from each of the 14 ODAC institutions (including Catholic for football only), 1,188 student-athletes earned recognition and the ODAC All-Academic Team. Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in a conference-sponsored sport, regardless of academic class.  He or she must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the year to be considered for an ODAC All-Academic Award. Hampden-Sydney placed 76 student-athletes on the list, including ten from baseball, eight from basketball, three from cross country, 27 from football, five from golf, 14 from lacross, five from soccer and 4 from tennis. The following link contains leads to a PDF of the Hampden-Sydney 2008-09 ODAC All-Academic Team.  Click  HERE to view the entire list of honorees. more...

Tiger Golfers Tie for First at Hampden-Sydney Invitational
(September 29, 2009) FARMVILLE, VA--Hampden-Sydney had a solid outing at the Manor Resort on Monday and Tuesday tying for first place in the Hampden-Sydney Invitational. The Tigers tied Christopher Newport and Randolph-Macon with a two-day score of 649 for the first place spot in the 13 team event. Hampden-Sydney was led by sophomore Ronnie Fultz who finished second overall shooting a 154 (76-78). Just ten strokes behind Fultz was Curtis Tomlin coming in tenth place individually. Junior Lorcan Duffy was just one stroke behind Tomlin shooting a 165 (82-83) for a 13th place finish. Senior Britt Parnell and freshman Sean Gatz rounded out the Hampden-Sydney's 'A' team shooting 166 (18th) and 170 (29th) respectively. more...
