TIGER GOLFERS FINISH TIED FOR 14TH-PLACE AT CAMP LEJUNE CAMP LEJUNE, NC (March 30, 2008)—Hampden-Sydney's golf team finished tied for 14th-place in the gold course division at the Camp LeJune Intercollegiate at the Paradise Point Golf Course in Camp LeJune, NC. The Tigers were among the top 16 teams after the first two rounds and were selected to participate in the gold course division on Sunday. The bottom 16 teams played in the scarlet course division on the final day. Hampden-Sydney was paced by a pair of seniors that finished tied for 48th-place as Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) and Nick Combs (Newport News,VA/Menchville) shot a three-day total of 230 with rounds of 70-79-81 and 71-81-78 respectively. Junior Richard Adams (Great Falls, VA/Heights School) finished tied for 58th-place after recording a three-day total of 232 with rounds of 74, 76, and 82, while senior Rob Shrader (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) finished tied for 68th-place at 237 with rounds of 69, 81, 87. Freshman Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenberg) wrapped up scoring for the Tigers as finished with a three-day total of 238 (76-74-88) to finish tied for 72nd-place individually. Methodist's Nick Bova won medalist honors, finishing four strokes ahead of second-place at 210 with rounds of 66, 69, and 75. Methodist won the team competition of the gold course division with a score of 859, placing four individuals in the top ten individually. Berry finished second at 883, followed by Oglethorpe (889), Savannah College of Art and Design (889), Ohio Wesleyan (890), Fayetteville State (892), Guilford (895), Shorter (896), Webber International (896), and Thomas (901) rounding out the top ten. -www.hsc.edu/athletics- |
