ADAMS, TIGER GOLFERS PLACE SIXTH AT MANOR INTERCOLLEGIATE

H-SC's two teams produce fine results as only non-DI teams in tourney field

Hampden-Sydney Event Results

FARMVILLE, VA (September 9, 2008)--Senior Richard Adams (Great Falls, VA/Heights School) turned in a three round total of 220 (74-72-74) to finish in a tie for seventh place individually and lead Hampden-Sydney's top team to a sixth place finish in the Manor Intercollegiate held at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville. The Tigers were the only non-Division I school in the field and placed two teams in the top-eight out of a total of 11 squads.

Adams finished just seven shots back of Longwood University's Michael Young, who earned medalist honors with a three-under, 213 for the tournament. Tigers' freshman Ronnie Fultz (Fieldale, VA/Carlisle School) was impressive in his first collegiate action, placing 19th while firing a three round total of 227 (75-77-75). Sophomore Nick Stubbe (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) gave Hampden-Sydney three golfers in the top-25 overall, turning in a solid 231 (79-79-73) over the two-day event.

Junior Britt Parnell (Midlothian, VA/Trinity Episcopal) paced the Tigers' 'B' team to an eighth-place finish as he shot a three round total of 234 (82-77-75), good enough for 30th overall. Curtis Tomlin and Josh Bascom (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) placed 35th and 38th, respectively with two-day totals of 236 (76-77-83) and 239 (81-82-76) for the 'B' squad.

Sophomore Sam Wallace (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) turned in a 240 (77-80-83) and ended up in 39th position alongside teammate Michael Dowd (Richmond, VA/Collegiate), who shot an identical total score of 240 (81-81-78). Rounding out the Tigers' lineup were sophomore Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenburg) (83-88-83-254, 51st) and Richard Malinowski (86-90-92-268, 54th).

Longwood University took the team title with a three round total of 864, finishing 17 strokes ahead of second place contestant Murray State University. Presbyterian College (893), Mount St. Mary's (909) and High Point University (916) rounded out the top-five. Hampden-Sydney 'A' registered a 918 to grab sixth while Hampden-Sydney 'B' shot a 949 and finished ahead of three squads.
