TIGER GOLFERS TIE FOR SECOND IN VA INTERCOLLEGIATE WINTERGREEN, VA (October 12, 2009)--Hampden-Sydney's Ronnie Fultz (Fieldale, VA/Carlisle School) and Britt Parnell (Midlothian, VA/Trinity Epsicopal) paced the Tigers to a second place finish in the Virginia Intercollegiate this past weekend. Fultz finished the event tied for fourth shooting a 149 (75-74) while Parnell was just three strokes behind finishing ninth with a 152 (73-79). Curtis Tomlin (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) was not far behind shooting a 156 (78-78) in the two-day event. Rounding out the Tigers' squad were Lorcan Duffy (Fermanagh, North Ireland) and Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenburg) who shot 162 (84-78) and 165 (85-80), respectively. Overall, Hampden-Sydney shot a team total of 619, just four strokes behind first place finisher Randolph-Macon en route to their second place finish in the twelve team event. Lynchburg's Mike Butzgy had the top individual finish shooting a 70 and 71 for a 141 overall, helping his team to a fifth place finish. Randolph-Macon was the top team in the event shooting a 615 behind second place finisher Max Wyndorf (142). Hampden-Sydney will return to action on October 26th-27th as they compete in the Tom O'Briant Invitational. -www.hsc.edu/athletics- |
