 | | Jake Plunket has been added to the coaching staff of the 2009 team. | Jake Plunket Joins Lax Staff (September 10, 2008) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney Head Lacrosse Coach Ray Rostan has announced the addition of Jake Plunket to the 2009 Tigers' coaching staff. Plunket joins the Hampden-Sydney family following a successful coaching position at Cortland State and playing career at Syracuse University.  | | H-SC seniors Colin Dunn (left) and Alex Pritzlaff garnered All-American accolades and represented the South in the USILA DIII Senior All-Star Game. | Dunn and Pritzlaff Honored as USILA All-Americans (June 19, 2008) PERRY, NY--Hampden-Sydney senior defensemen Colin Dunn (Chevy Chase, MD/Trinity Pawling) and Alex Pritzlaff (Castle Rock, CO/Kent Denver) were named third team All-America by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association according to the teams released by the organization yesterday. In addition to their All-America selections, the first team All-ODAC and first team all-state picks were also selected to represent the South in the annual USILA Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game held on May 23 at Harvard Stadium in Boston, MA. more...
Lax Seniors Dunn and Pritzlaff Named Men's Lax All-State (June 5, 2008) ASHLAND, VA--Hampden-Sydney senior defensemen Colin Dunn (Chevy Chase, MD/Trinity Pawling) and Alex Pritzlaff (Castle Rock, CO/Kent Denver) have both been named first team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), as the organization announced its 2008 All-State team on Thursday afternoon. Earlier in the spring, both Dunn and Pritzlaff were also tabbed first team All-ODAC, capping a stellar year for each student-athlete. Lynchburg College senior goalkeeper Garrett Curran was named the 2008 VaSID Player of the Year, Virginia Wesleyan head coach J.P. Stewart snagged Coach of the Year honors and Roanoke freshman attackman Matt Quinton earned Rookie of the Year accolades. more...
H-SC Lax Places Seven on All-ODAC Squad (May 8, 2008) SALEM, VA--Following a roller coaster season on the turf, seven Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse Tigers were named to the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference all-league teams. The Tigers placed two players, senior captain Colin Dunn (Chevy Chase, MD/Trinity Pawling) and senior Alex Pritzlaff (Castle Rock, CO/Kent Denver), on the All-ODAC first team. Senior defenseman Ian York (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield) earned second team recognition while teammates Doug Carpenter (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's), Kyle Jett (Suffolk, VA/Nanesmond Suffolk), Kyle Frazier (Forest, VA/Virginia Episcopal) and Will Ashwell (Warrenton, VA/Notre Dame Academy) rounded out Hampden-Sydney's all-conference honorees with honorable mention selections. more...
 | | Hampden-Sydney junior attackman Andrew Mahoney registered two goals in the Tigers' season finale, a 11-7 loss to rival Randolph-Macon. | Upstart R-MC Stuns Lax Tigers, Clinches First Ever ODAC Berth (April 26, 2008) ASHLAND, VA--Yellow Jackets' attackman Billy Rowe scored three goals and added one assist and Paul Johnson and Tyler Watkins notched two tallies apiece as Randolph-Macon College's lacrosse squad secured the program's first ever berth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament with an 11-7 defeat of visiting Hampden-Sydney College on Saturday afternoon. Yellow Jackets net minder Ray Wadorski was a monster in the cage, racking up 23 saves, including two huge stops in the third period to aid the R-MC cause. Hampden-Sydney was led by sophomore Kyle Jett (Suffolk, VA/Nanesmond Suffolk) and junior Andrew Mahoney (Littleton, CO/Littleton) who each scored twice, but never held a lead in a game that ultimately eliminated the Tigers from postseason contention. more...
