 | | Junior Daniel Martin earned First Team VaSID All-State honors for his solid play in 2009. | Three Lax Tigers Earn VaSID All-State Honors (June 10, 2009) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--The VaSID All-State men's lacrosse team was recently released, and Hampden-Sydney was able to put three players on the First and Second Teams. Juniors Kyle Jett and Daniel Martin were the two Tigers to garner First Team honors. Joining them on the Second Team is senior Andrew Mahoney. Jett has already been named a First Team All-ODAC midfielder as well as a USILA Honorable Mention All-American. He began the season mainly as a distributor leading the team in assists for most of the season. The junior then showed the ODAC he is a great scoring threat as well tying a team-high 34 goals on the year. more...
H-SC Lax Announces Newcomers for 2009 Fall (June 9, 2009) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney College head lacrosse coach Ray Rostan has released the list of incoming freshmen and one transfer student set to report for the 2009 fall lacrosse season. The 12 new faces will join the bulk of the 2009 team that only lost four seniors to try and win the school's fifth Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship. In order to comply with NCAA rules, the list of recruits includes only those student-athletes who have made deposits on tuition and are set to report in August for the fall season and classes. The list includes players from eight states, including Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.  | | Junior midfielder Kyle Jett was tabbed an All-American for his breakout 2009 season. | Kyle Jett Named USILA Honorable Mention All-American (May 20, 2009) BALTIMORE, MD--The accolades continue to roll in for junior midfielder Kyle Jett who has just been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Jett has already earned First Team All-ODAC honors for his career year in 2009. Jett earned All-American honors in the midfield after his best season in a Tiger uniform. He began the season mainly as a distributor leading the team in assists for most of the season. The junior then showed the opposition he is a great scoring threat as well tying a team-high 34 goals on the year. Jett earned ODAC Player of the Week honors after scoring eight goals in two games. He also had back-to-back five goal games. His 34 goals were added by 20 assists giving him a total of 54 points on the season, which is good for second all-time for a Hampden-Sydney midfielder. more...

Juniors Kyle Jett and Daniel Martin were the two Tigers to garner First Team honors. Joining them on the Second Team is senior Andrew Mahoney.  | | Senior Doug Carpenter had a team-high three goals in the ODAC Semifinal game against #1 Roanoke. | Tigers Fall Just Short of Epic Upset, Take 17-12 Loss (April 30, 2009) SALEM, VA--The fourth seeded Hampden-Sydney Tigers were on the verge of an epic upset over first-seeded and top ranked Roanoke College as the two teams were locked in an 11-11 tie with 13:06 to play in the game. The Tigers’ miracle run ended just short, however, as Roanoke was able to regain the lead and hold on to advance to the ODAC Finals on Sunday. Hampden-Sydney threw the rankings and records out the window to start the game as senior Doug Carpenter opened up the scoring at the 11:41 mark. Roanoke did respond with a Chas Carlson goal, but junior Kyle Jett was there to put his team back on top 2-1. Roanoke then showed why they are the top team by reeling off three straight goals to end the quarter. In the second quarter the Tigers proved they could keep up as the two teams traded goals back and forth for 15 minutes. Roanoke notched the first tally just two minutes in the quarter, but Micah Keller fired right back just 90 seconds later. The two teams continued to trade goals with Ben Clarke scoring two and Carpenter adding one in the period. more...
