(JULY 2004) VAIL, CO - Nine Tiger alumni and present student
athletes represented Hampden-Sydney College as members of the Merrill Lynch
team in the Open Division of the Vail Shootout.
The Vail Lacrosse Tournament, in its 30th Year, is the
oldest tournament in the sport of lacrosse, with well over 1600 men and
woman participants. The men’s division is divided into three individual
tournaments. There are "open", "senior"(34-45 years of age) and "Masters"
(over 45 years of age) divisions.
The Merrill Lynch Team finished fifth of twenty teams in the
Open Division of the oldest and largest lacrosse tournament in the sport.
Paul Landaiche (HSC ’93), a Portfolio Manager for Merrill Lynch
(Jacksonville, FL), organized, coached, and enlisted sponsorship by his
Merrill Lynch employer. The team combined nine Hampden-Sydney Tigers with
representative athletes from 5 other colleges and universities. Paul will
again be organizing the team for its third year of entry in 2005.
Brad Johnson (H-SC ’89, not shown in photo) participated in
the Senior Division of the Vail Tournament. Brad captained the 1989
Hampden-Sydney ODAC Championship team and was the ODAC Player of the Year.
