JAKE PLUNKET JOINS LAX COACHING STAFF (September 9, 2008) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Hampden-Sydney Head Lacrosse Coach Ray Rostan has announced the addition of Jake Plunket to the 2009 Tigers' coaching staff. Plunket joins the Hampden-Sydney family following a successful coaching position at Cortland State and playing career at Syracuse University. Plunket also currently plays for MLL Rochester Rattler's. Plunket has had an impressive playing career that continues today in the MLL, where he most recently help the Rochester Rattler's capture the 2008 MLL Championship. In college, he was a standout midfielder and face-off specialist at powerhouse Syracuse University. A 2006 graduate, Plunket captained the 2005 squad and was able to play on two national championship teams. Upon graduating from Syracuse, Plunket moved on to coach at Cortland State for three years while obtaining his Masters in Health Education. He was a valuable part of the coaching staff helping the Red Dragons to three Division III National Championship games, winning the Championship in 2006. "We are extremely fortunate to have attracted an excellent person and coach in Jake Plunket," said Coach Ray Rostan. "Jake has boundless energy, great character, and he is a tenacious face-off man and midfielder. Jake comes from a family of educators as his dad and sister are both teachers, while his mom a ski instructor, in the Homer and Syracuse (NY) area." Plunket is a native of Homer, NY where he attended Homer Central High School and earned All-American honors in 2001. Plunket currently resides in Farmville, VA. www.hsc.edu/athletics- |
