 | | Matt Hampton had another solid performance against Randolph College. | Wildcats Pounce in Overtime, Beat Tigers (October 11, 2008) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney got off to a strong start against Randolph College but struggled early to find the back of the net. The Tigers controlled much of the play early as the ball spent a good amount of time with the Tiger offensive. Sophomore Matt Hampton (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam) had another strong showing and was a great help in keeping the ball in offensive. It did not take long for Hampden-Sydney to fire off shots as junior Will Robertson (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Catholic) ripped a shot in the eighth minute that hit the inside of the post and bounced out. more...

Though the Tigers struggled to find the net in the first half of play, they continually put pressure on keeper Jackson Maust and the rest of the Royals defense blasting seven shots. Freshman Bryan Wharton (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) and junior Will Robertson (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Catholic) both hoisted great looks at the goal, but Maust, who had an outstanding first half, was there to stop every attempt. more...
