H-SC Soccer to Host 2010 Alumni Game
(March 16, 2010) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney head soccer coach Josh Laux has announced that the 2010 alumni soccer game will be held on Saturday, April 10th at 11:30 am at Hellmuth-Pritzlaff Turf Field.  Participants are encouraged to arrive by 11:00 to ensure a timely start.  Last year's alumni game produced all-time highs in attendance and participation, and the Tiger Soccer program hopes to continue that trend this year.  The 2009 season was a great success for the Hampden-Sydney soccer program.  The Tigers finished 16-4 overall and 8-2 in conference.  The 2009 team set school records for wins, winning percentage, and shutouts, and they spent the majority of the year ranked in the top ten in the South-Atlantic Region.  Five Tigers earned all-conference honors, two were named all-state, and two were named to the all-region team.  The team also featured a first team Academic All-American and the ODAC Rookie of the Year. more...

H-SC Soccer Releases 2010 Schedule
(February 11, 2010) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Coming off of the most successful season in program history, Head Coach Josh Laux will once again lead the Hampden-Sydney soccer team through an incredibly challenging 2010 schedule. The 17-game slate features both home and away tournaments, some very stiff non-conference opponents, and the always brutal ODAC schedule.  The Tigers will open their season at home this year in a non-conference matchup against Averett University on September 1st.  The Tigers will then travel to Emory University in Georgia for the Sonny Carter Invitational September 4-5 where they will take on Oglethorpe University and Emory.  The Tigers will return home for a tournament on September 10-11 where they will take on Moravian College and Catholic University. more...

Freshman Nick DeProspero joined sophomore Bryan Wharton on the VaSID All-State Team.
DeProspero and Wharton Named All-State
(January 11, 2010) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney sophomore forward Bryan Wharton and freshman midfielder Nick DeProspero have both been selected to the 2009 VaSID College Division All-State team.  Wharton was named to the first team while DeProspero was named to the second team.  This is Wharton's first selection to the All-State Team and follows his selection to the All-ODAC first team and All-South Atlantic Region second team.  Wharton was also named the ODAC player of the week for the week of November 2nd. more...

Three Tigers Named All-Region Scholars
(January 4, 2010) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney senior defensemen Brett Chonko and Christopher Tait  and junior goalkeeper John Robert Plyler have been recognized for their hard work both on the pitch and in the classroom as all three have been named to the East All-Region Scholar Team.  Chonko was named to the third team, while Plyer and Tait were both named honorable mention. more...

(December 17, 2009) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney senior defenseman Brett Chonko and sophomore forward Bryan Wharton have both been selected to the 2009 NSCAA Division III All-South Atlantic Region Team.  Wharton was named to the second team while Chonko was named to the third team.  Making the feat all the more impressive is the fact that the South Atlantic Region was re-zoned to include the prestigious New Jersey Athletic Conference, increasing the number of quality players eligible for the All-Region team. more...
