Tigers Earn Comeback Win Over Marymount
(October 14, 2008) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-- Though the Tigers went down 1-0 early, they fought off a physical Marymount team to come back and win 3-1. The match started with Hampden-Sydney on the attack, as just 30 seconds in freshman Bryan Wharton (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) stole the ball 20 yards from the Marymount goal and took a shot that was stopped by keeper William Brahmstedt. more...

Wildcats Pounce in Overtime, Beat Tigers
(October 11, 2008) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney got off to a strong start against Randolph College but struggled early to find the back of the net. The Tigers controlled much of the play early as the ball spent a good amount of time with the Tiger offensive. Sophomore Matt Hampton (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam) had another strong showing and was a great help in keeping the ball in offensive. It did not take long for Hampden-Sydney to fire off shots as junior Will Robertson (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Catholic) ripped a shot in the eighth minute that hit the inside of the post and bounced out. more...

Tigers Hang Tough, Beat Royals 2-1
(October 8, 2008) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA--Hampden-Sydney came into halftime for the second straight game in a scoreless tie, but the Tigers returned to scoring mode in the second half of play to propel themselves to a 2-1 win over Eastern Mennonite University. Though the Tigers struggled to find the net in the first half of play, they continually put pressure on keeper Jackson Maust and the rest of the Royals defense blasting seven shots. Freshman Bryan Wharton (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) and junior Will Robertson (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Catholic) both hoisted great looks at the goal, but Maust, who had an outstanding first half, was there to stop every attempt. more...

Senior James Bishop had an outstanding defensive night in the Tigers' 0-0 tie against Lynchburg College.
Tigers and Hornets Play Even Match to Tie
(October 5, 2008) LYNCHBURG, VA--Hampden-Sydney's 3.67 goals-per-game average seemed to be under construction at Lynchburg College as the Tigers were held scoreless for the first time this season. Luckily for the Tiger offensive, the defense was up-and-running and had an all around great night preventing Lynchburg from scoring and keeping the game at a 0-0 tie after two overtimes. more...

Wharton's Hat Trick Helps Tigers to 5-1 Win
(October 1, 2008) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-- Freshman Bryan Wharton (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) continues to dominate as he recorded a hat trick in the Tigers' 5-1 victory over Bridgewater College.
