TIGERS NAME GREG SESNY NEW TENNIS COACH

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (May 4, 2004)—Hampden-Sydney College Athletics Director Joe Bush has named Greg Sesny as the new head tennis coach for the Tiger tennis program.  Sesny, a member of the Tiger football coaching staff, served as interim coach late in the 2004 season and helped guide the tennis Tigers to a sixth-place finish in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship.

Sesny, who takes over for Bert Molinary who resigned in April to take a soccer coaching position at the University of South Carolina, will direct all efforts for the Tiger tennis program, including recruiting and conditioning.  He will take over a team that returns all six starters at singles and all three doubles tandems in 2005.

Sesny joined the Hampden-Sydney football coaching staff earlier this year as a defensive assistant.  He came to Hampden-Sydney from the University of Maryland, where he was a graduate assistant under coach Ralph Friedgen for three years.

Prior to joining the Maryland staff, Sesny spent two seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Catholic University.  While at Catholic, he served as the Cardinals tight ends coach in 1999 and receivers coach in 2000.

As an undergrad, Sesny played for then head coach Tom Clark and offensive coordinator Marty Favret as a tight end and H-back.  Sesny started three years as the Cardinals racked up a 28-4 record in that span, while he also helped the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 1997 and 1998.

Sesny graduated from Catholic in 1999 with a degree in electrical engineering.  He is originally from Harrisburg, PA, and attended Bishop McDevitt High School.
