CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT DROPS TENNIS TIGERS 6-1 Patrick Gee Beats South-Atlantic Region No. 12 Ranked Player HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (March 31, 2006) — The Hampden-Sydney Tigers tennis team dropped a home match to the Christopher Newport University in a Division III South Region contest Friday afternoon. The loss dropped the Tigers below .500 with a 7-8 overall record (2-3 ODAC). As for the Captains of CNU, they improved to 7-4 overall (4-0 USA South) and will most likely retain or improve their No. 11 regional ranking. For Hampden-Sydney College, the lone bright spot came off the serve and volley of senior and 2005 ODAC Player of the Year, Patrick Gee (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman). The number one singles match plotted Gee versus Eddie Glidewell, the No. 12 ranked player in the Atlantic-South Region. Gee won in two sets; 6-3 and 7-5. The Tigers have little time for rest as they travel to the University of Mary Washington Saturday morning for a 9:30 am match.
