TENNIS TIGERS FALL TO AVERETT 5-4 DANVILLE, VA (March 23, 2009)–Hampden-Sydney had another tough road match as they travelled to Danville, VA to face the Cougars of Averett University. William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) continued to show his dominance as he defeated Juuso Tapanainen in the no. 1 spot. Hampden-Sydney also saw quality wins from Zack Pack (Keysville, VA/Randolph-Henry) and Phillip Parrish (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman). Pack won his first set 6-4, but fell in the second by the same score. In the third set he came to play cruising to a 6-2 win. The Tigers also won a doubles match with Shad Harrell (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) and Kevin Calhoun (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) teaming up to win 8-3. With the loss, Hampden-Sydney falls to 4-4 overall and remain 3-1 in the ODAC. The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, March 25 as the Tigers host Roanoke College at 3:30 pm.
