TENNIS TIGERS DOWN METHODIST 8-1 HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (April 3, 2009)–The windy conditions on Friday had no effect on Hampden-Sydney's tennis team as they cruised to an 8-1 victory over Methodist University. The Tigers once again showed their depth winning all six singles matches and two out of three doubles matches. Coach Bates saw impressive 6-1, 6-1 victories from William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg), Rich Pugh (Augusta, GA/Lakeside), and Philip Parrish (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman). The Tigers also had a great doubles win from Shad Harrell (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) and Kevin Calhoun (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin). The two displayed great teamwork and downed their opponent 8-2. With the win the Tigers improve to 6-4 on the year and remain 4-1 in the ODAC. The Tigers return home on Wednesday, April 8 as they host Roanoke College at 3:30 pm.
