TENNIS TIGERS CONTINUE HOT STREAK WITH 9-0 WIN

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (April 8, 2009)–With standouts William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) and Rich Pugh (Augusta, GA/Lakeside) back in the lineup, Hampden-Sydney had no trouble defeating ODAC foe Roanoke College on Wednesday with a 9-0 victory. Moss and Pugh won at the one and two spots respectively.

Hampden-Sydney also saw continued success from Philip Parrish (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman) who had a convincing, well played 6-0, 6-2 victory. Tal Covington (Gainesville, VA/Flint Hill School) also tallied a great win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the six spot.

The Tigers also swept the doubles action, and saw a come-from-behind victory from Shad Harrell (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) and Kevin Calhoun (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin).

With the win the Tigers improve to 8-4 on the year and remain 6-1 in the ODAC.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, April 9 as they travel to Randolph-Macon College at 3:30 pm.
