Foreign Affairs & Religion major

from Norfolk, VA

This summer, Austin H. Hardman '18 put both of his majors to work when he interned with a small non-profit in South Africa.

He was even able to formulate and implement his own project, a playground he built for preschool children in a rural area of the Limpopo Province. Austin calls the opportunity "the experience of a lifetime-one that would have been impossible without Hampden-Sydney's internship scholarship program and committed professors who go above and beyond." Austin is pictured with preschool children enjoying the playground that he built.
