Crisis Management Plans
Hampden-Sydney College strives always to maintain a safe campus. Nonetheless, there is always the possibility that a crisis will arise as a result of a natural or man-made disaster.
In such instances:
- the College will take steps to maintain the safety of students, faculty, and staff members,
- and to keep parents, alumni, and friends informed of actions the College is taking to respond to whatever crises arise.
Several plans have been developed for reacting to emergencies and crises. In all instances, these are “works in progress.” The plans are reviewed continuously and we try to adapt them as we learn more about potential incidents and what has proven effective elsewhere.
- Campus Emergency—General
Steps the College will follow in general emergencies, whether man-made or natural disaster.
- Pandemic flu
Steps the College will follow whenever there is an outbreak of pandemic influenza.
- Study abroad
Steps the College will follow if an emergency arises while a student or group of Hampden-Sydney students are engaged in a study abroad program.
