Normalization or Democracy? The Delicate Balance of U.S. Relations with Beijing and Taipei Regarding the “One-China” Policy
The paper aims to analyze the complexities of Sino-American relations regarding Taiwan and the “One-China” policy. Attention is given to the major historical developments from the normalization of relations under President Richard Nixon in 1971 to the modern day. Potential outcomes of the “One-China” policy are discussed as well as foreign policy recommendations to achieve the desired outcome.
