The Economics of Acute Medical Care in Southside Virginia: A Case Study: Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, Virginia
This study uses SCH Emergency Department (ED) and admissions data to analyze trends and econometrically forecast demands for both inpatient and outpatient services. In addition, local community health statistics and area economic data are evaluated to better understand the service needs of the Hospital and the financial impact of the Hospital on the local economy. Certain implications of this study are unique to Southside Community Hospital, while others represent industry changes in the standard delivery healthcare by acute care hospitals and medical centers.
