Forty years ago, a cornerstone of the Hampden-Sydney College academic experience was established, creating a legacy that we celebrate this week: the 40th Anniversary of the Rhetoric Program.
Over three days, the College will host guest experts in the fields of journalism and public history as well as an alumni panel that will discuss the impact of the Rhetoric Program on their careers. The events will lead up to the annual Rhetoric Proficiency Exam required of all Hampden-Sydney students, while alumni gather in locations throughout the country to celebrate this shared “write” of passage.
The cornerstone of the H-SC academic experience is the belief that there is nothing more valuable than teaching young men how to express themselves clearly and confidently.
