From internships to study abroad opportunities, Hampden-Sydney students spent their summers pursuing personal and professional growth.

Here are their experiences beyond the academic year, beyond the classroom, and beyond the Hill.

    As a high adventure kayaking guide, Thomas Watson '21 led groups on a 50-mile journey via kayak to camp on islands along the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

    During the Virginia Program at Oxford, Alex Chalgren '21 toured much of England, including Blenheim Palace (pictured) in the nearby town of Woodstock.

  • Jacob Mitchell '19 on the Speaker's Balcony in front of the Capital.

    Jacob Mitchell '19 spent his summer in Washington, D.C. interning in Senator Shelley Moore Capito's office. He assisted with daily operations, from summarizing amendments to giving tours of the Capitol.

    Leonardo Anselmo '19 traveled to East Asia with his brother Carlo Anselmo '18 and friends to celebrate Carlo's graduation from H-SC. Xi'an, China, a traditional yet rapidly growing city, was among the stops.

    Adam Hade ’20 interned at 7 Mile Advisors in Charlotte, NC, where he learned about mergers & acquisitions, private equity investments, and market analysis. He worked closely with firm partners Tripp Davis ’96 and Leroy Davis ’89.
