SOCIETY FOR COLLEGIATE JOURNALISTS
The Society for Collegiate Journalists (formerly Pi Delta Epsilon) is a national collegiate honorary journalism fraternity, existing to recognize excellence and outstanding achievements in journalism and to encourage good journalistic practices in undergraduate institutions. It was founded at Syracuse University in 1909, and a chapter was installed at Hampden-Sydney in 1939. The Society character was reactivated in 1999. Students who have worked at least two semesters on The Tiger, The Kaleidoscope, or WWHS-FM and have contributed substantially to the information services of those publications, or to The Garnet, and have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7, are eligible for membership in this society.
