Hampden-Sydney is ranked 96th among liberal arts colleges nationally.

U.S. News & World Report has released the 2018 edition of its annual Best Colleges rankings. Hampden-Sydney is now ranked 96th among liberal arts colleges nationally, an improvement of nine places from a ranking of 105th in 2017.

Only once in the last 15 years has the College been ranked higher, and few schools in the top-100 saw as significant of an improvement as Hampden-Sydney. This year's placement puts the College among the top four liberal arts colleges in Virginia.

The 2018 rankings of U.S. News includes data from more than 1,100 accredited four-year schools, comparing high school counselor assessments, graduation and retention rates, student selectivity, alumni giving percentage, and faculty resources.

In addition to the Best College ranking, Hampden-Sydney was ranked 93rd in U.S. News & World Report's Best Value Schools list, which considers both academic quality and cost.
