I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, and I never thought I'd go to Hampden-Sydney College. My grandfather ('51), and father and uncle ('82) are all Hampden-Sydney graduates, but as a high school student I really didn't see the appeal of a "dude school" in "the middle of nowhere" Virginia. All of that quickly changed after an Open House visit my senior year. I met some of the most outgoing, well-spoken, and interesting students I had met on any campus. "I want to be like those guys," I told myself. I applied early decision as soon as I got home. While majoring in Religion, I served as a Resident Advisor, a Student Court Member, and participated in multiple service trips abroad in Belize. My years at H-SC are certainly some of the most memorable of my life, and I love being able to share those memories with prospective students and their families.
