Research Interests and potential topics for students

Dr. Basham can supervise projects related to Slavic literatures, folklore, cultures, and languages. She can also supervise students interested in researching not only Slavic folklore, but legends, fairy tales, customs, and traditions from other cultures. Dr. Basham is also very interested in and researches the 'secret language' of tattoos and their various meanings in different cultures and across different time periods. One of her newly discovered passions which she also explores in her Global Cultures 104 classes is the constantly changing and evolving "narrative of the human body" in terms of topics such as birth and death, sex, medicine, body marks, perceptions of beauty, etc.
