Former Hampden-Sydney College President Christopher B. Howard is a 2016 recipient of the NCAA's Silver Anniversary Award. 

Former Hampden-Sydney College President Christopher B. Howard is a 2016 recipient of the NCAA's Silver Anniversary Award. The award annually recognizes distinguished individuals on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their college athletics careers. Dr. Howard played football at the U.S. Air Force Academy, leading the team to back-to-back bowl games in 1989 and 1990, including an upset win over The Ohio State University in the 1990 Liberty Bowl. 

Dr. Howard recieved the 1990 Vincent DuPaul Draddy Trophy, the highes academic award in college football. He earned a Rhodes Scholarship, a master's degree from Harvard Business School, and a doctorate from Oxford University. He also earned a Bronze Star for his military service in Afghanistan. Dr. Howard served as president of Hampden-Sydney College for six years and served on the NCAA Division III Presidents Council. Dr. Howard will be formally named the president of Robert Morris University on February 1, 2016.
