Hampden-Sydney College student William Echols '17 and several H-SC alumni receive training in Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. 

H-SC students in FEMA trainingFour members of the Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad, one current student and three alumni, have returned from first responder training in New Mexico. The training, Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, was conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Biology major William Echols '17 of Roanoke says, "We learned to identify different forms of explosive material and the damages they can cause. We also learned the proper state and federal quick action teams to notify if we find ourselves in a threatening situation." 

In addition to volunteering on the rescue squad, Andrew Watters '15 is a fulltime EMT; Raleigh Cooper '07 is a health care administrator; and Brian Butler '92 is a lawyer.
