Vice President for Enrollment
Hampden-Sydney College seeks a creative, strategic, and forward-thinking vice president for enrollment to advance its compelling, 244-year-old mission, “to form good men and good citizens.” Founded in 1775 with Patrick Henry and James Madison among its charter trustees, Hampden-Sydney is the tenth oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Reporting to the president, the vice president for enrollment will lead a dynamic regional, national, and international recruitment effort to attract, select, and enroll talented and diverse students, building upon the College's rich history while leading it into an ambitious future.

Recognized as a top liberal arts college in the United States by both U.S. News & World Report and Forbes, Hampden-Sydney offers a unique coming-of-age experience to 1,000 promising young men. Hampden-Sydney’s exceptional educational program is delivered by a dedicated faculty and staff and supported by a devoted alumni network ranked fourth best in the nation by The Princeton Review. The Wall Street Journal rates Hampden-Sydney among the top ten schools for career preparation. With longstanding codes of honor and conduct and a distinctive Rhetoric Program at the core of its academic program, the College has prepared generations of young men for rewarding and productive lives of leadership and service in medicine, business, finance, government, law, media, the arts, and many other fields.

The successful candidate will embrace Hampden-Sydney’s distinct mission and understand and employ the most effective ways of communicating with the College's prospective student population in an evolving landscape. The vice president for enrollment will be an experienced leader of people and programs with a demonstrable record of success using sophisticated marketing, technology, and financial aid packaging techniques to achieve enrollment goals. Superior communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as are dedication to a liberal arts education and the ability to inspire support from the College’s constituents, including members of the campus community, alumni, parents, and students.

Hampden-Sydney occupies a singular place in higher education. Its vice president for enrollment will play a central role in ensuring the realization of the College’s vision for its future.

Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Candidates should provide, as two separate documents, a resume and a letter of application that addresses the responsibilities and requirements described in the Leadership Profile. These materials should be sent via email to the Hampden-Sydney College consultants Amy Crutchfield and Shelley Arakawa at H-SC-VPE@wittkieffer.com. The consultants can also be reached through the desk of Paula Verace at pverace@wittkieffer.com
