Summer Orientation will connect you with your classmates and the Hampden-Sydney community and provide you with information about how to succeed in college. You will have the opportunity to explore our academic program, begin building a relationship with an academic advisor, and learn about the resources available to help you on your journey. During Orientation, you will meet new and current students, and explore our beloved campus through social events. You will find that here at Hampden-Sydney you are not just "at college;" you are involved in a community that challenges you to become the best man you can be.
Can't make it to Summer Orientation? Then we look forward to seeing you prior to the beginning of classes for Fall Orientation. Required of all new students, Fall Orientation will connect you and your classmates with the Hampden-Sydney community. This opportunity will provide you with the skills and information to be successful here.
In the meantime, if you need more information, call Sandy Cooke at (434) 223-6340. We wish you success and encourage you to take full advantage of all that the College has to offer.
Please see the Academic Calendar for information regarding the dates of classes, breaks, and holidays.
What to Bring
Here is a tried and true checklist that includes what you should (and should not) bring to college.
As a first year student, you will live together with your brothers in Cushing Hall, the Whitehouse Complex, or Carpenter X or Y. Check out more information about your new home away from home!
