From April 22–24 Hampden-Sydney College celebrated the culmination of its 250th anniversary and the “It’s Time, Good Men” comprehensive campaign, which raised more than $400 million for scholarship support and capital projects. Celebrants revisited 250 years of student trends and traditions at Hampden-Sydney, from food and attire, to heroism on the athletic and battle fields, at “The Hampden-Sydney Student Brotherhood: Trends and Traditions” exhibit at the Atkinson Museum; learned about the College’s flagship Rhetoric Program; met current STEM students to learn about their original research; viewed stunning student artwork ahead of the Student Art Show, which opened Monday, April 27; and heard from faculty experts such as James C. Wheat Jr. Chair in Leadership Hugo Rodriguez Jr. ’88, former U.S. ambassador to Nicaragua. Friday evening’s finale included a private dinner for donors, faculty and staff members, and student leaders and a public celebration featuring food trucks, fireworks, a performance from the Fife and Drums of York Town, and a special concert from country music star Craig Morgan.
