Hampden-Sydney College is located in Southside Virginia between Tidewater, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the James River. The historic 1340-acre campus lies five miles south of historic Farmville, the county seat of Prince Edward County and home to Longwood University. It is approximately 60 miles southwest of Richmond, 50 miles due east of Lynchburg, and 60 miles southeast of Charlottesville.

Wolyniak Earns Coveted Fellowship

Hampden-Sydney McGavacks Professor of Biology and Director of Undergraduate Research Michael Wolyniak has been named a fellow of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).
H-SC Represented at Barbara Johns Statue Unveiling

On December 16, a statue of Barbara Johns was unveiled in Emancipation Hall at the United States Capitol, attended by several Hampden-Sydney representatives, including one who contributed to the project.
H-SC Excels at Virginia Government Simulation

From November 12 –14, 2025, the Institute for Democratic Empowerment and Pluralism at Virginia Commonwealth University hosted students from throughout the commonwealth for its 2025 Fall Virginia Government Simulation (VGS).
