July 9, 2025

Hampden-Sydney College has been named to The Princeton Review’s 2025 Best Value Colleges list, earning the No. 2 rank for Best Alumni Network.

Drawn from institutional and student survey data collected between fall 2024 and spring 2025, the list features a total of 209 public and private colleges and universities selected from more than 650 nationwide. Each institution recognized stands out for three key qualities: outstanding academics, affordability, and strong career outcomes for graduates.

According to The Princeton Review: “More than 40 data points were used to tally The Princeton Review's ROI (Return on Investment) ratings for the schools. That rating score is the primary basis for the company's selection of schools it designates as ‘Best Value Colleges.’” The ROI rating draws on aspects including academic rating, financial aid rating, and college costs. Hampden-Sydney earned an ROI of 88 out of 99.

As part of this project, The Princeton Review publishes rankings across seven categories for both private and public institutions: Top 50 Best Value Colleges, Top 20 Best Value Colleges with No Demonstrated Need, Top 20 Best Alumni Networks, Top 20 Best Schools for Internships, Top 20 Best Career Placement, Top 20 Best Schools for Financial Aid, Top 20 Best Schools for Making an Impact. Along with earning the No. 2 ranking for Top 20 Best Alumni Networks (Private Schools), Hampden-Sydney also ranks No. 16 for Top 20 Best Schools for Internships (Private Schools).
